SIS Replacement Options

By the end of 2025, Livestock Information Ltd aim to rollout England’s multispecies service to cattle keepers. The launch of this service marks the start of Livestock Information Ltd providing a multispecies platform which will include cattle, sheep and pigs by 2026.

As part of this move and at the same time, SIS will be decommissioned. The reason for decommissioning SIS is so that all cattle movement, death and birth data entered in the future can be validated to improve the quality and accuracy.

If you are a 3rd party software provider and currently use a SIS interface to report cattle movements to CTS, you will need to transition to the Multispecies platform for reporting cattle movements. You will need to

  1. Develop your farm, market, or abattoir software to submit births, movements, and deaths through the new Multispecies APIs.

If you are not planning to develop your 3rd party software to integrate to the new Multispecies APIs, then existing SIS users (keepers, market or abattoir users) have two options available to them when SIS is decommissioned.

  1. Sign up to 3rd party software which integrates with the new Multispecies APIs, which allow you to submit bulk uploading of births, movements, and deaths.
  2. Sign up and use the new Livestock Information UI on launch of the service which will have a bulk upload facility for submitting births, movements, and deaths.
