CLA - Movements
Overview
The Core Livestock Application (CLA) helps enable users of your software to comply with the UK guidance and regulations relating to the movement of Ovine species within the UK. An overview of these regulations can be found on the GOV.UK web site: Keeping farmed animals: Sheep and goats identification, registration and movements - detailed information - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
This page provides a technical overview of the steps required to successfully record ovine movements between livestock holdings within the United Kingdom into the CLA system, using a number of example scenarios to record the movement, confirm acceptance and make corrections after submission.
Using the Menu above, you can step through the process, with a narrative description and sample data showing how the system responds at each step. This section is aimed at technical personnel that will be responsible for integrating with CLA, for example an external organisation developing a software application to record livestock movements to the system.
The data used in the examples below are for illustration only; the purpose is to describe the format and usage only.
Definitions for individual interfaces, along with examples, are available on the Interfaces pages. The Glossary page contains definitions for CLA specific terms that are used in the description of the interfaces.
